Rendering unto Carl what is rightly his own

Rory giveth, and Rory taketh away.

Sometimes, if you're really nice, then Rory even giveth backeth.

I'm pleased to announce, then, that as of last night, I've given backeth Carl's futoneth to himeth.

I just wanted to publicly thank him for three weeks of rent-free living in his office. Some people were worried that I was going to have a tough time on the east coast, but Carl went out of his way to ensure that my move would be as easy as it possibly could have been, to the point that he let me invade his private space for nearly a month.

So, thanks, Mr. Franklin :)

Also, posting might be a little erratic over the next few days - I don't have a net connection at the new place, so I can't just post whenever I feel like it. I'm at Carl's right now, taking his space again, but this time just long enough to post...

Well, damn, it’s good to hear from ya. Just 3 hours before this post showed up I caught myself singing “where oh where has Rory’s blog gone, oh where, oh where could it be!!”. It was shortly after that ( and my 7th beer of the night) that I realized I was repeatedly singing a song about a web log, and (to top it off!!) I was singing about a guy I’ve never met. I mean, hey, I enjoy good literature (which is what I dub this blog.. I would prefer if you didn’t agree with me because I’m an idiot and doing so would make me look less the idiot) but I never go around singing tunes about the authors… I enjoy movies, but it would take about 2 microseconds of me humming “Like a virgin” while thinking of that scene in Fight Club where Tyler says “now a question of etiquette, do I give him the ass or the crotch?” before I came to my senses.

Dude.

If I ever try to go after corporate sponsorship, I'm quoting you :)

(Although I never would (but if I *did* (which I wouldn't (and I won't (don't need The Man breathing down my neck (some more))))))

Rory, just because you have a love for the esoteric I thought I'd pop in this simple hint for usage of archaic English.

The suffix "-eth" is the equivalent of "-es"/"-s". So "givETH" == "giveS", "havETH" == "haveS".

So, "Futoneth" would means "futons" - how many have you been using? And "himeth" would be "hims" - sounding very Gollum-like.

Enjoy!
