Charles Petzold on .NET Rocks

I'm beat, so I'll keep this short, but if you're a Charles Petzold fan (or just a .NET Rocks fan), then you're going to want to tune in to tomorrow night's show. It's going to be at 9:00 EST (6:00 PST if you don't want to do the math (9:00 - 3:00 = 6:00 (in case you wanted to know how the math works))), but you can of course just download the sucker when it's out on Monday.

I've been trying to figure out how Carl managed to get Petzold for the show, but whatever the story behind it, I'm pumped.

Do not take the mans name in vain!

I can still see my Programming Windows 3.1 (Third edition) on my shelf. It's pretty beat up, and I've not touched Win3.1 for years, but that book has moved from London->Slough->Basingstoke->Oxford->Merton(Oxford)->Fremont->Ben Lomond.

The cover is a bit worse for wear..

Thats gonna be a cool show Rory - kudos to you and Carl!

Petzold is certainly a high priest of Windows programming. I recall his earlier books from more than a decade ago!

Man! This is BIG! (Rory... time for a Steve Ballmer impression... oups sorry forget that!)

No really, this is big, the guy wrote *the* original Windows Development Bible. When I started developing for Windows (back in the 2.X and 3.0 days) you just had to buy the "Petzold" to learn how to program.

Those were the pre-oop days! Can't wait to hear his commetns on .NET!

Is the show really at 9pm? Or 10pm? Is this 9pm Carl Franklin time?

Totally off-topic, but having read most of your blog I thought you might be interested:

From an article by Mary Dalrymple of AP, reporting on John Kerry's appearance on "The Daily Show" hosted by Jon Stewart:

Kerry offered an interesting observation on life as a presidential candidate.

"You'd be amazed at the number of people who want to introduce themselves to you in the men's room," he said. "It's the most bizarre part of this entire thing."

I bought Petzold's "Code" because YOU, Rory, mentioned it during your first DNR appearance. I haven't had a chance to get past chapter one yet (too many .NET books in the way) but it's a good read so far.
