I've been having a lot of weird dreams lately. I don't know if it's because I'm starting a new job or what, but they've been strange.
Here's the first of a few...
I dreamt that Scott Hanselman and Chris Sells started their own cable TV talk show. Part of me finds this idea very natural as they're both excellent and dynamic entertainers.
The thing that didn't seem very natural was how they went about putting on the show. They were 100% committed to this thing, and they actually went so far as to shed their mortal coils and enter the cable network as some strange "electric spirits." That is, they left their bodies behind and became part of the network.
This gave them complete control over what was happening on screen - they didn't need cameras, computers, or anything. If they wanted something to appear on screen during the show, they only had to imagine it, and it would be there. That's pretty cool.
Unfortunately, though, the general public didn't share my excitement about the program, and it was cancelled after its first airing. This, as you're probably thinking, left Scott and Chris in a weird sort of limbo. Their souls were stuck in the television network, but they didn't have a show to do.
That's when they called on me to help them get out, and this is where the dream gets stranger.
We came up with a plan to get their souls out of the network and back into their bodies. This meant that I had to go find their bodies and bring them to my apartment. Once I had them, I then had to lay them out so that they were holding hands (I kid you not - and there's a reason for this).
The actual transfer required both Kori and myself. I kept my right hand on the TV screen, held her hand with my left, and she used her free hand to hold Chris's body's hand, while Chris's body's hand was, in turn, holding Scott's body's hand (was that confusing? it was just a daisy chain starting with me and ending with Scott).
Then, when my hand was pressed firmly on the TV screen, I felt their spirits exit, one by one, and pass through my body. The feeling was like a strange electricity in my stomach and chest - what you might imagine it would feel like if you had television static in your intestines (and we all know that feeling). Their souls then passed through Kori and into their own bodies.
And that was that.
