Want to win a copy of VS.NET Pro 2003 Special Edition?

For those of you who haven't heard, there's a new Visual Studio.NET 2003 product out called the "Special Edition."

And, no - "Special Edition" in this case does not mean that this is VS.NET 2003 with all new (crappy) special effects and never before seen footage of an overweight Scottish man replaced by a CGI Jabba the Hutt which was about as entertaining as receiving a barbed spike to the rectum (I recently bought the Star Wars DVD boxed set just so that I could get pissed off about it).

No.

In this case, "Special Edition" means that VS.NET Pro 2003 comes with:

- Windows Server 2003 - Licensed for development and test

- SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition

- Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Office

- MCAD/MCSE training eBooks

- A voucher for 50% off a certification test

It's a $749.00 value, and I'm going to be giving a copy away on this here blog.

I haven't yet thought of what I'd like the contest to be, but I'm going to think up something devilishly clever (if that fails, of course, then I'll just think up something offensively stupid).

Keep yer eyes peeled, then, and watch for the announcement. Whatever I decide on, I want to get the contest underway soon...

You realise your going to have to ship that all the way to Australia don't you..?

I will climb the highest mountain. The prize will be mine.

Others need not apply.

[Tactful answer:]

I will certainly ship the prize to the person who wins it, regardless of geographical location, provided no interstellar distances need to be crossed.

"I will climb the highest mountain."

But that's not the contest. I don't want to be responsible for loads of geeks deaths due to heart failure.

You might find yourself having to scale a small hill, but full blown mountains are completely out of the question.

"The prize will be mine."

Yes! Provided one simple thing: that you win it :)

But who said I was going to climb the highest mountain as part of the contest..? I just mentioned it in passing.

The prize will be mine! (when *I* win it! ;)

I bet you're going to run some kind of mysterious contest where you give clues in the blog and at the end of a period of time (say 1 month) you'll have given all the clues and we'll all have to guess what the answer is.

I bet you've already started. So the first clue is... hmmm... "Certificate of Smartness" is too obvious... Knowing you (as well as a reader can know blog writer which is not much), I would say that the clue is "voting drunk". Let's see what could that mean...

[Looking back on this I could have gone on farther, maybe actually been funny and could have posted this on my blog... oh well... btw, do you notice the resemblence to another contest that you and another .Net personality once almost ran... I think you should do it, but I think you should just give clues... there shouldn't be a real answer.... you should pick the best (in your opinion or maybe get a team determine the best) answer... ok, this comment is way too long... I should have blogged it on my blog (but then you wouldn't have read it)... Someone make me stop... <smack /> thanks]

Climb whatever you want. I'm excellent with a sniper rifle (in Halo that is). YOU WILL CLIMB NO MOUNTAIN MORTAL!! MWAH HAHA. On the other hand, I will kick small, pillow-like, annoying dogs if you would like me to (I hate those things). Just a contest sugguestion. On the other hand, if you happen to like stupid dogs, then I can also wash them and buy them clothes and make them appear to be human via PetSmart.

This better be real because I am not running naked through the server room with a bag of Cheetos again. You can play that trick on me once, and then a second time, but the third time I'm onto your little game.

Aaaargh! Curse you Blyth! I've just peeled my eyes and everything's gone dark... Will my sight return if I keep them peeled? Do they just need time to adjust?

This is the 18563rd time I've typed this message, because trying to navigate to this textbox by keyboard alone from memory's really hard!

Just needed to share.
