For Sale: Broken Tablet PC

Be the first on your block to own:

One (1) totally fux0red tablet. Large hunk of plastic in fairly good condition with no obvious cosmetic flaws (however, subtle cosmetic flaws are abundant). Sits on floor well. Also sits on desk. Could probably also be placed on bench, but haven’t tried yet. Doesn't do anything. Plugs in, but doesn't turn on. Screen still swivels. Properly obeys law of gravity. Could potentially be made into movie prop. Also good for self-defense in a pinch. Has never been dropped from a helicopter. Weighs the same as a working tablet. Battery can still be removed and put back in. Buttons continue to make “click” sounds, although no letters appear on screen. Looks small from far away; seems to get bigger as you approach it. Does not carry any curses or hexes. Would fit nicely into rectangular hole. People often said nice things about it when it still worked. Asking $500, but will consider trade for a stapler or bag of frozen cats.

I'll bid you a Rapesco 'Skippa' stapler, complete with staples, and box in mint condition.

I only opened the box yesterday, and have only punched one staple into a stack of 15 pages.

It's capable of 'staple', 'pin', or 'tack' modes. Can do up to 20 sheets, and can take 26/6 or 24/6mm staples.

It's black.

It sounds like a power issue, have you tried another power adapter yet?

I would offer you a bag of frozen cats, but I think shipping them in an air-conditioned container (so they arrive frozen) to the USA will cost more than 500$.

Do the cats have to be in stasis, or just dead?

I'm willing to staple some dead cats for you :) (and yes I know I'm a sick puppy, but so are you for asking for a bag of dead cats [by the way, what kind of dead cats did you want, kitty cats, or something bigger like a tiger?])

How about a quasi-dead iBook?

It's shiny, it's white, it claims to have both an intel and an AMD cpu inside, and it fails miserably to boot!

(It tries though... it'll put stuff on the scren and offer to boot from either the linux installed or the CD-rom drive, which in theory would install OS X 10.3, except neither option results in a successful boot.)

Will trade you for a broken iMate jas-jar. Just a mini version of your tablet, complete with all the same features except that it:

-doesn't run Windows Mobile 5
-doesn't make phone calls
-doesn't integrate with any bluetooth devices

The advantage of my unit is that it fits in you pocket so can be useful in picking up girls. They'll be amazed at the incredible mastery of technology you can muster up at a moments notice, just don't open the unit or try to play a game of backgammon.

I've got a broken SPV C550 (Marketed as the Audiovox 5600 or something in 'Merica. The one Scoble had.) I'll throw that in too.

The screens a bit fuzzy and there are scratches all over the body work where I dropped it, and kicked it along the pavement (sidewalk for you 'Mericans) when I was running (that's moving your legs quickly, for you 'Mericans) for the train.

Is it really dead? Like kapow dead, or just dead-dead?
Maybe it's not dead if you take out the battery, unplug it and hold down the power button for 30 secs. Then plus in AC only and turn it on...Try that and there's a reason that no-one buys tablets anymore. :)

Good luck!

Surely this is the kind of thing that ebay was invented for. Set up five auctions. Sell four pictures of the broken machine (autographed or otherwise) and one lucky person gets the real deal. Then practice saying "It was working fine when I sent it" in front of a mirror until you can say it without becoming hysterical.

Or you could replace the screen bit with an Etch a Sketch and live the Dilbert dream...

I have the same tablet. It's been in for service probably 6 times now since I bought it 8 months ago.

They've had to replace basically every part in the unit, and the hard drive several times.

Super-lame.

I feel your pain though.
