I’m up late again, rendering more videos. This time for Channel9. It is my humble goal to create the best series of screencasts on Windows Mobile development in the universe, covering everything from getting off the ground to synching with SQL Server using RDA. I’m doing the things in nice, bite-size pieces, too. You won’t have to sit through a two hour presentation just to get the information you want. Most of these will come in at about twenty minutes each.
This also pretty much means that TinyThings is dead. It’s sad (shed a tear, move on), but it’s also good. Good because so many people complained about the file formats I was using.
This way – the Channel9 way – it’ll all be WMV and SWF, so whether you like to watch Windows Media or Flash, we’ll have you covered.
The first two screencasts will hopefully be up tonight, with six more to follow over the next couple days.
So, I’m pumped. I was actually there when Channel9 started. It was back at the MVP summit in 2004. Jeff Sandquist saw me, handed me a camcorder, and told me to shoot some video for “this thing” he was working on. I’m a good sport, but I had no idea what in the hell it was all about. Two years later, I definitely know what in the hell it’s all about.
I don’t think my footage was ever used, but it was cool to have been there at the start of something as big as Channel9. While I didn’t “get it” at the time I was holding the camera, I certainly get it now. Word.
On another front, I just noticed that Carl posted a bit about our latest project. I sent him a poorly recorded audio sample of me reading a blog entry, and he used it to totally rip off “This American Life” in a good way (hey – they’ve got a great thing going, and Carl and I don’t care about stealing, so…). He has the sample up in the post.
I’m actually really happy with the results, considering the poor quality of the recording.
Step two of this project is to head out to Connecticut to record about 5,000 episodes of this thing. I’ll be visiting Carl and his minions around the middle of July to lay down as many episodes as we can.
It is, to say the least, going to be really weird going back to New London. The last time I was there was over two years ago, and so much has happened since.
Should be interesting :)
