And now we wait...

Well, I've done all I can.

The interviews are over. I've spoken with everybody involved. I did my best.

But I still don't know.

And, while I can't talk about what the job is (or where), I'm pretty sure I'm at least allowed to give unto you this artist's rendering of the interview process. You can tell how things went and decide for yourself: Will Rory get the job?

I think the answer is pretty bloody obvious.

Yup.

I think it's in the bag.

Thblat.

Some of us aren't so lucky as to have such a talent.

And some jobs require such a talent.

So, consider yourself lucky.

If you'd just come out here... I'd spend *all* my free time teaching you how to make farting noises with your armpit.

You 'n me, babe. And our pits.

[Note to other guys: *This* is how I land the pretty ladies. You just have to know what to say.]

Seriously. You have to make farting noises.

Nobody messes with you. You just get RESPECT.

And possibly some chafing -- depends on the weather and one's personal humidty. A bit. I think.

Good luck - as if you'd need any - with your job.

Thank you :)

The weird thing is this: when you haven't drawn one in a long time, you feel like you've forgotten how.

However, I think this particular example represents some new techniques that I hadn't previously been any good at using.

Take, for example, the sweat that appears to be jumping off heads. That's a new feature of my comic style.

I've also started to do the Peanuts style eyebrows-floating-above-the-head trick.

Overall, I think I've made another giant leap as an artist in terms of realism and expression.

And somehow, in spite of my major improvements with the craft itself, I've managed to stick to my original stylistic aesthetic of doing nearly everything in only two dimensions.

The Renaissance be damned - I believe that you aren't an artist unless you can apply your abilities without the crutch of things like realistic depth and perspective.

Yup. I'm really turning the art world upside-down wwith the quiet work I'm doing here.

You can all say you knew me "back when.'

I know, I know - no need to say it.

Why I haven't been "discovered" and offered bajillions of dollars in exchange for my interpretation of what the muses are whispering in my ear is beyond me.

Crossing everything I've got (well ALMOST everything I've got) that you get the job.

For purely selfish reasons I am also hoping it's within Microsoft.

Doesn't is depend on *how* you make the farting noises?

Doing it the old fashioned way... doesn't... seem.. to... work... at... earning... respect...

But it did kill my cat.

Dude, I had just been reminded of the awesomeness of your artistry through Joel Spolsky's "Best Software Writing" book. It's great to see the return of the cartoons, but, pray, where did the pink dress/skirt go?!

Also, why does no one have murderous evil teeth and crazy eyes? Does that mean you actually like them and are going to take their offer?

Good luck... for rather irrational reasons, I hope you remain at MSFT!

Softie-wannabe.
